LE MOUVEMENT

MOUVEMENT is an open street art collective that brings together artists from different backgrounds: painters, graffiti artists, draughtsmen, photographers, video artists, scenographers and visual artists. The questions raised by MOUVEMENT are centred on relations in the urban space, social diversity and living together. The emblematic work of the collective, “Les parapluies”, by Riks, Tiez and Romano, began in Paris in 2013 and is still ongoing today. A mixture of realism and poetry, this work combines narrative figuration with the technique of photo-graphic collage to depict pairs of people, from different origins, cultures or generations, united under an umbrella.

To constantly roam the streets of the capital to expose the encounters of its inhabitants.

The MOUVEMENT exhibits its collages in the middle of the day in the street, in contact with the inhabitants and in the company of those photographed, thus provoking encounters and a dialogue with the public. Behind the idealistic message represented by these chance encounters under a common shelter, Le MOUVEMENT militates for a society rich in its diversity, in which social and cultural differences are not an obstacle and where artistic expression is a means of facilitating exchanges and better living together.

To propose to the public on the streets a reflection on living together and to spread positive vibes, such are the principles of this large-scale performance: more than 1000 couples stuck on the walls of Paris and elsewhere. Originally an illegal artistic project, it has become officially recognised through the authorisations granted and then through the commissions from public institutions (Ministry of Culture, Nuit Blanche, Mairie du XXe, Mairie du XIXe, Mairis du XVIIIe, Mairie du XIVe….).
